Celine Dion Gives Birth To Twins

October 23, 2010

Celine Dion and her husband René Angelil welcomed fraternal twin boys on Saturday. The boys will join the couple's older son René-Charles, who is 9 years old.

The twins arrived at 11:11 and 11:12 a.m. at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Céline, 42, was admitted a few days earlier.

The singer's doctors advised her to go into the hospital early in order to avoid the premature birth of her babies. Evidently, that was unavoidable, as the twins came a few weeks earlier than their due date.

The new babies will stay in the hospital for a few days in an incubator, but they are healthy and doing well, said Céline's doctor, Ronald Ackerman. The delivery was done via C-section and all went as expected with one baby weighing in at 5 lbs. 4 oz. and the other at 5 lbs.

"Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up. René-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers and is just so excited they are here." Celine's rep said.

Celine Dion Hospitalized

October 19, 2010

Pregnant Celine Dion has been hospitalized to prevent the premature birth of her twins, her rep has confirmed. The Canadian singer was admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday, October 18 as recommended by doctors.

The hospital officials have released a statement to affirm that Dion's hospitalization is aimed "to prevent the early delivery of her babies which is the standard of care for any patient with twin pregnancy in this clinical setting." The twin boys are due in November and the result of in-vitro fertilization.

The hospital additionally denies reports that Dion and her husband Rene Angelil have scheduled a caesarean section delivery for October 22 and made special request about nursing staff and rooms for her security team.

"At no time did Ms. Dion or her husband make any special demands or requests of the hospital. She is not scheduled at any predetermined date for her delivery. She has not requested or selected any particular staff or accommodations not available to other patients," the statement says.

Celine Dion and Rene Angelil first announced that they are expecting twin babies in May. The upcoming boys will join brother Rene Charles Angelil (9-year-old) who was also conceived through in-vitro fertilization. Dion additionally has a step son Patrick Angelil.

Celine Dion Expecting Twin Boys

July 10, 2010

Celine Dion is expecting twin boys.

The 'Think Twice' singer - who already has a nine-year-old son Rene-Charles with husband Rene Angelil - has confirmed she will be welcoming two more sons into her family later this year.

In a statement on her website, he spokesman said: "Celine first announced the upcoming new additions to the Angelil-Dion family back in May, and now she just revealed that she is expecting twin boys! Congratulations to the happy family!"

The 42-year-old songstress has had an emotional few months as she tried to have more children with her 68-year-old spouse.

Last August the couple announced they were expecting a child following a successful round of IVF, but in November her spokesperson confirmed the pregnancy had failed.

Just weeks ago Celine hinted there was some "good news" to come about a second pregnancy.

She said: "Well we're crossing our fingers. We're waiting for good news hopefully. I don't want to talk about it so much because I'm superstitious, but I know people have been very wonderful for us and praying for us. Right now we are crossing our fingers, we hope for the best and I can't wait to give people good news."
